In person training in Amsterdam 2022

In October 2022, PHRP provided the first in-presence police and human rights training in Amsterdam since the COVID-19 pandemic. Participants were Amnesty colleagues working on policing issues in Europe (including Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Turkey, Switzerland). Particular attention was given to the policing of assemblies and the respect of the right to freedom of peaceful assembly. Issues discussed during the training confirmed the worrying trend that this right is increasingly under threat – including in countries that consider themselves to be democratic and human rights “friendly”. The Amnesty International Global Campaign “Protect the Protest” could not have started more timely.
