In person training Mexico City 2025

In February 2025, PHRP conducted a four-day training in Mexico City for 15 Amnesty campaigners and researchers working in the Americas region.

We covered all relevant policing topics: militarization, use of force and firearms, less lethal weapons, protests, arrest, detention, torture, discrimination, accountability, and police reform. We focussed on the following countries: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Paraguay, Peru, and Venezuela. The training also focused on how to effectively address policing-related problems and develop meaningful recommendations to authorities. Thanks to the diverse contexts and variety of issues that participants are working on, we had many interesting case studies to discuss. The exchange between the participants was very rich and the sharing of experiences in the different countries led to very interesting discussions.
